About the project
TrackMyDebts is a small web app for planning how to pay off loans and credit cards. You add your debts, compare the Snowball and Avalanche payoff strategies side by side, and see charts of how each balance comes down. I built it in the spring of 2025, when AI app builders were still new, and it is one of the first things I built with AI.
The app has no backend. Every entry stays in the browser's local storage, so no financial data ever reaches a server. It is a React and TypeScript app on Vite, styled with Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui, with charts drawn in Recharts.
It went live on its own domain on 18 April 2025, with a landing page, an FAQ and PostHog analytics. I routed PostHog through a Vercel rewrite so ad blockers would not drop the events. A week later I added a demo mode, so people could try it without entering their own numbers. Established finance apps already cover this space well, so I kept it as a small, free tool rather than turning it into a product. It is still live.
